My Approach
I tailor my therapy approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Throughout treatment, I draw from various therapy modalities and often blend these to best support your progress.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical and effective way of talking with a therapist that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Using CBT, I work with you to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs, and to develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving. I help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and provide tools and strategies to manage and overcome problems. The goal is to empower you to make positive changes in your life and improve your overall well-being. This approach can help reduce anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties, leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Person Centered Therapy
Person centered therapy is a supportive and understanding way of talking that focuses on making you feel safe and accepted. In this type of therapy, I listen without judgment, showing empathy, and believe in your ability to grow and change for the better. The goal is to help you find your own solutions and make positive changes at your own pace. This approach can boost your self-esteem, foster personal growth, and improve your emotional well-being.
Solution Focused/Strength Based
Solution-focused and strength-based therapies focus on your strengths and resources to help you find solutions to your challenges. Instead of dwelling on problems or past issues, these approaches can help you identify what's working well and build on those positive aspects. Therapists using this approach will ask questions that help you envision your desired future and the steps you can take to achieve it. These therapies are practical and aims to empower you by highlighting your capabilities and successes, ultimately fostering a sense of optimism and confidence in your ability to create positive change in your life.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) therapy is a way to learn how to cope with stress and improve your well-being. It teaches you to focus on the present moment without judgment. In MBSR, you practice techniques like meditation, breathing exercises, and gentle yoga to become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations. By doing this, you can better manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve your overall mental and physical health. MBSR is about learning to be kinder to yourself and finding a sense of calm amidst life’s challenges.
